Forget about Top Chef or Rachel Ray, my favorite cooking show on television is Cake Boss. The program showcases Italian family-owned bakery Carlo's Bake Ship in Hoboken, New Jersey. The Cake Boss and star of the show is Buddy, store owner and head baker.
Even though I prefer deep-dish pizza over any type of dessert, I cannot help watching this show every week on DIRECT.TV. Buddy and his team bake cakes for weddings and special events and each cake is an elegant masterpiece. Many of the cakes have special themes. From beach cakes to zombie cakes to car cakes, all of the desserts on Cake Boss are charming and unique. The cakes are brightly colored and multi-layered with delicate flowers or intricate designs.
Whether they are delivering the wrong cakes, running out of ingredients, or dropping the cake on the ground, sometimes things go horribly wrong. Buddy is always the first to scream and accuse his employees of incompetence, laziness, and stupidity. The bakers are constantly yelling at each other, but at the end of the day, they are working together to create beautiful, delicious cakes.
Cake Boss is a fun reality cooking show that illustrates the hectic and interesting life of a family who runs a bakery. Buddy and his team make gorgeous cakes that will make anyone's mouth water and crave dessert.
